Workshops FAQs
What sort of jewellery will I make at a workshop?
What is special about my workshop experiences is that I want to collaborate with you to facilitate your project and for you to get the best out of your time spent with me.
At the time of booking a date, I will ask you to think about what jewellery item you might want to make and any style ideas you may have which then allows me to plan the session for you. In previous workshops, participants have made either a single wide band textured ring or sets of three smaller stacking rings, textured bangles and cuffs, pendants or earrings using a wide variety of techniques, tools and methods.
How much does the workshop cost?
The cost of the workshop session is £60 per person which includes your tuition, a gift bag for your finished jewellery, a silver cloth to keep it shiny and clean and light refreshments.
I’ve designed my workshop experiences to be flexible so that you can create what you want to make. As a result, in addition to the workshop tuition fee of £60, an additional materials charge of £2.50 per gram of silver is payable at the end of the session.
Prior to coming, we will liaise about what you’d like to make, and I can give an approximate materials charge. As a rough idea, earrings may work out between £10- £15, whereas bangles can be between approx. £30 - £60.
From experience, charging separately for materials is the most effective way of making the sessions inclusive and affordable to all but if you prefer me to work out an all-inclusive cost, I can.
How many people can you accommodate?
My workshop space is ideally suited to two adult participants although I recently enjoyed teaching three generations aged between 10yrs and 65 so please do ask if you would like something similar. I am always happy to teach 1:1 sessions and can offer a reduced rate for blocks of sessions.
Can I buy a workshop voucher?
Yes, vouchers are available on my web shop and are perfect to give as a gift. Sent by post either to you or directly to the recipient, I will be pleased to include a short handwritten message for a personal touch.
Professionally printed on thick card, the voucher is presented in a co-ordinated envelope and includes information about how to find out more and book.
How long does a session last?
Sessions last between 2.5 and 3 hours for individuals and 3-4 hours for pairs. Unfortunately I do need to charge an extra fee of £25 per hour if sessions run over the allocated time.
When & where do the workshops take place?
All workshops take place at my home studio just outside Newton Abbot, Devon. I can facilitate sessions on most days so please do complete the Workshop Enquiry form if you’d like to arrange a date or know more.
